Finding the right College

We are on a college hunt. Since our son, David, is a senior at Lutheran High South, we have begun a new adventure in our lives. Last Friday we finished his last football season. Now it's on to the college adventure--and I call it an adventure because otherwise I might be tempted to call it a harrowing drudgery. Not only does the poor kid have to decide to some degree what he'd like to be when he "grows up", but then he must find the right college with the right financial package. Now for our daughter, it seemed she knew just exactly what she wanted to do when she started her senior year in high school. An interior designer... We visited four campuses, and she chose one of the two colleges offering her accredited program in Missouri. We applied for scholarships and she received art scholarships, got some work study, and we added some, but not too much money. Now David is a different story... He's got a good GPA, taking his A.C.T. test again in December to get a higher score. He's targeted 5 colleges but those essays... "Okay, Mom, I'm working on them. Maybe tomorrow I'll finish them." This topic is so fresh on my mind because we went to Another college fair and david was as excited as a bump on a log. He looked at one college, filled out one card, and succored me into buying him food for making the 30-minute drive.
