Life Changes
July 12, 2007
Dear Friends,
I wanted to drop you a note to let you know of some changes in my life. I have resigned from my duties at KNLC, TV 24, and the New Life Evangelistic Center. It has been an honor and a blessing to represent NLEC and its media entities for the last 32 years. Little did I dream, when I first began working with and discipling homeless women at NLEC in 1975 that so many wonderful opportunities would open up for me to serve others. I even met my husband, Ray Redlich in the process! Our children, Melody 20, a junior at Maryville University, and David, a freshman at Lutheran High School South, have grown up in the ministry. As a family we have enjoyed taking the homeless into our home, and during the first part of our married life, running shelters for the homeless.
I was also privileged to be a part of the start-up team at KNLC, TV Channel 24. The hand of the Lord moved in mighty ways as we raised the 1.2 million dollars to put the station on the air, plus we’ve kept it growing yearly. What a remarkable opportunity it was, as program director for KNLC for its first ten years, to help shape quality Christian family programming for the entire metro St. Louis area. I was also privileged to help with some of the preliminary plans for KNLJ, TV 25 (Jefferson City/Columbia, Missouri), and then we saw the vision of the Here’s Help Radio Network come into being.
It has been my joy to host the Christian Connection show on KNLC since 1987. The show has also aired as a separate run on the Charter Cable Access Channel for several years, and on WTJR, TV 16 in Quincy, Illinois. For those of you who volunteered your time and talents to help produce and film this program, a HUGE THANKS! We’ve done 786 shows together—lots of sweat and long nights have gone into production. To those of you whom I’ve been fortunate to interview, thank you for sharing your stories with the metro St. Louis area and portions of Illinois. Some of your stories also ended up as a part of either a Christian Connection radio show or a Cry Justice radio show. I began hosting the Cry Justice radio show in 1995; the first station it aired on was KTCN in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. I pray that those of you whose justice issue or inmate case I’ve featured were helped in some way through the shows. As the new Life Evangelistic Center purchased radio stations, these shows were a part of their regular line-up.
In 2000, ACBRADIO.org, a new internet station comprised of blind broadcasters went on the air. They asked me to come aboard with Cry Justice. Because the internet station was managed in New Zealand, I had to quickly learn the art of editing my shows on the computer and sent them electronically to the web site. Thanks to those of you who gave me invaluable computer tips to do this. Cry Justice began airing onACBRADIO.org in April, 2000, and a radio version of the Christian Connection show began airing in 2004. I so much appreciate my loyal listeners.
But now a new chapter is starting for me. Helping people tell their unique stories will still be in the mix, whether on local, national or world-wide TV or radio. With my love for investigative reporting, covering justice and disability issues, and my pioneer spirit, I know there is a special opportunity waiting for me. I would also like to try my hand as host or co-host of a live call-in talk show. A year ago I teamed up with a videographer and we are available to help businesses or organizations tell its story in a video presentation designed as a promotional tool. One project we’ve just completed was an 11 minute video of Joni and Friends Gateway Wheels for the World. We went with a team of 18 to Monterrey, Mexico to help distribute wheel chairs, walkers and canes. We’ve also put together video presentations for several other not-for-profit organizations and businesses, and produce a local pastor’s weekly TV show. I have plans to continue my speaking and music ministries, as well as work on writing more Adventures with the Four-footed Friend. More time can be devoted now to helping organizations needing fundraising strategy planning, training, and calling. And I’m looking forward to helping grow an outreach to people with disabilities at our church.

Blessings,
Judy Redlich
